Game 40: Capitals @ Senators

Game 28: Wizards @ Pistons

The Wizards reached .500 & improved to 14-14 on the season by winning their final game of 2013 vs the Pistons in Detroit.  The Wizards overcame a 9 point 4th quarter defecit led by John Wall  who continues to play at an All Star level scoring 20+ points in 7 consecutive games.  Unlike the start of the season, the Wizards bench continues to make solid contributions, scoring 30+ points in 7 consecutive games also.  The team is healthy, firing on all cylinders, and ready to make a run in 2014.

Game 27: Pistons @ Wizards

The Wizards completely dominated the Pistons tonight from start to finish.  Gortat & Ariza knocked off their holiday slump and combined for 31 points.  Beal was able to go, despite a knee bruise suffered a night before, and also contributed 15 points. The bench, led by Nene & Webster, added 30 points.  John Wall had himself another 20 point, 11 assist night.  Trevor Booker has been making the most of his starter minutes opportunity, with Nene coming off the bench, contributing 10 points, 9 rebounds & 4 assists.  With tonight's win the Wizards have moved into 5th place in the East and one win below .500 with one game remaining in 2013.

The Wizards will close out 2013 on the road against these Detroit Pistons where they hope to finish the year at .500.  They have a tuff week that follows which includes games vs the Mavs, Raptors & Warriors.

Game 26: Wizards @ Timberwolves

The Wizards returned to action Friday night in Minnesota vs the Timberwolves but came out flat and were never able to get into this game.  John Wall had an excellent first half scoring 22 points, however that production was off set by Ariza & Gortat being shut out in the first half.  By the time the team started getting their act together in the 2nd half it was too late to mount a comeback.  Bradley Beal went down in the fourth quarter in pain and had to be carried off the court.  Apparently he knocked knees with another player.  The Wizards have two more games remaining in 2013 with the opportunity to reach .500 before years end still alive.

The Washington Capitals got off to a hot start tonight going up 2 goals with scores from Grabovski & Backstrom, but yet again let the lead slip away as the Anaheim Ducks came back to defeat the Caps by a score of 3-2.  The Caps finished the game with 19 shots on goal, 4 in the 2nd & 4 in the 3rd period.  A last second shot by Ovi pinged off the crossbar, however after review it was determined it was no good. With the loss tonight the Caps record is now 19-14-4.

John Wall had a solid day with 20 points, 9 assists, 6 steals & a block. Coach Randy Wittman said the team is growing before his eyes, "this group of guys are starting to develop & showing perseverance" necessary to fight back into a game like they did today.  This victory is the Wizards third in a row and now puts them one win below .500
