McNabb instantly changes the face of the Redskins' offense, simultaneously casting uncertainty on quarterback Jason Campbell's future and the team's plans for this month's draft. McNabb's arrival also means Redskins fans can expect a new starting quarterback at the start of a 2010 season that already had promised plenty of change.

"Donovan is an accomplished quarterback who has been a proven winner in the National Football League," Shanahan said in a news release. "I have long admired his competitiveness and feel he will be an outstanding addition to the Redskins and our community. He knows our division and the roadmap to success in the NFC East."

In exchange for McNabb, the Redskins gave up their second-round pick in this month's draft -- the draft's 37th overall selection -- and a fourth-round selection in the 2011 draft. Next year's pick, though, could turn into a third-rounder, depending on McNabb's performance this season.

McNabb is expected to be introduced at a news conference Tuesday at Redskins Park. A frequent source of trade rumors, McNabb apparently wasn't aware the Redskins were serious suitors until this weekend. In a brief conversation Sunday night, he said, "Absolutely looking forward to this . . . absolutely. I'm excited about it, no question."

Battle Over Orange Wal-Mart Continues

Opponents of a Wal-Mart Supercenter near the Wilderness Battlefield in Orange County are hoping a judge will do what county supervisors did not. Wednesday they argued in court that supervisors' approval of the new store was not legal and should be thrown out.

Lawyers for Orange County's Board of Supervisors asked the judge to throw out the lawsuit before it goes to trial. Across the courtroom, lawyers for the six plaintiffs argued that there is plenty of reason not to throw it out.

The issue is the legal term, ‘Standing,' or the plaintiff's ability to prove how they are connected to and harmed by what they are challenging. In this case, they are trying to show that the Wal-Mart Supercenter would increase noise, traffic, and pollution near their homes.

"The decision by the board has already been decided," said former Orange County Supervisor Teri Pace. "So now it rests in the court's hands."

One argument against the plaintiffs' claims about the negative impact of the Wal-Mart was that it would be far enough away that it would not impact them directly. Zann Nelson is the president of the Friends of Wilderness Battlefield.

"We think there's a better way here," said Nelson.

She says there has to be a way to bring Wal-Mart to some other place that does not impact the battlefield or the people who live nearby.

"There's answers that don't infringe upon the future of Orange County," Nelson explained. "Because the national park is a huge tourist asset for them, and yet offers the community, local citizens, other shopping alternatives and what not."

Lawyers for the county supervisors say claims of more noise and traffic are pure speculation, and that the lawsuit has no grounds for a trial. Supporters of the suit say it is not too late to change the plans.

"We could have Wal-Mart, and we could also have an economy of tourism," said Pace. "And that location is so strategic to Orange County and Orange County's history, and also it's the main gateway into our county. When you can have both, there's no reason not to."

The judge did not make his ruling today and although he did not give a specific date for his ruling, he did say it will not take long.

Remembering Abe Holiday Toy Drive
Throughout the day on Tuesday, December 8th, 2009, Wizards Care will conduct a day-long toy drive at Verizon Center. As a way of honoring Abe Pollin, people are asked to drop off a new, unwrapped toy at the F Street Entrance of Verizon Center, anytime from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm. The toys will be donated to the Salvation Army this holiday season. Every person who donates a toy will receive a ticket voucher to a future Wizards game, and while supplies last Dunkin Donuts will provide morning treats, and Papa John’s will provide midday snacks for participants.

(CNN) -- NASA said Friday it had discovered water on the moon, opening "a new chapter" that could allow for the development of a lunar space station.

The discovery is based on preliminary data collected when the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite, or LCROSS, intentionally crashed October 9 into the permanently shadowed region of Cabeus crater near the moon's south pole.

After the satellite made impact, a rocket flew through the debris cloud, measuring the amount of water present.

"The discovery opens a new chapter in our understanding of the moon," the space agency said in a written statement shortly after a news conference began at its Ames Research Center at Moffett Field near San Francisco.

Anthony Colaprete announced the discovery at a noon news conference -- "Indeed, yes, we found water."
